Cricket Formats and Competitions — What to Expect from Each

Each cricket format has its own pace and character. Knowing which markets work well in which format makes betting more enjoyable.

T20

T20 — Fast-Paced Cricket

In this 20-over format, the result can change at any moment. Tournaments like BPL and IPL are played in T20 format, making it the most popular for live betting. A single big over can completely shift the momentum of a match.

ODI

ODI — Strategic Cricket

In 50-over ODIs, team strategy and batting averages matter more. The ICC World Cup and bilateral series are played in this format. Top batsman and total runs markets are more popular in ODIs.

Test

Test — Patient Cricket

In five-day Tests, a draw is possible, which makes the markets different. Betting on first innings scores, session-by-session runs, and wicket fall rates offers much more variety. In longer matches, odds shift gradually.

BPL, IPL and International Matches

For cricket fans in Bangladesh, the BPL is the biggest event of the winter. Interest in domestic franchise matches is high because people feel personally connected to familiar teams. Alongside BPL, matches from IPL, T20 World Cup, ICC tournaments, and bilateral series are also available at ween.

The Bangladesh Tigers' international matches are especially popular, as everyone loves to support the national team. At ween, multiple markets are open at the same time for these matches — not just match winner, but separate markets for each over or innings as well.

ween Football and Cricket Sports Betting

Betting on Football and Other Sports

Football is popular at ween alongside cricket. However, the betting structure for the two sports is different — football has three outcomes: win, draw, or loss, while a limited-overs cricket match generally has no draw, with one team winning.

In football, goalscorer markets, assists, and half-time results are popular. In cricket, over-by-over runs, wicket fall, and partnership markets are more common. The main difference between the two is that a cricket match runs for a much longer time, which means more in-play markets are available.

Sports like kabaddi, badminton, and tennis are also available at ween. Although the markets and odds structure for each sport differ, the basic principle is the same — read the rules and terms carefully before placing a bet.

Popular Betting Markets — How Each One Works

Cricket betting offers several types of markets. Below are seven familiar markets with a brief description of each.

Match Winner

Match Winner Market

The simplest market — pick which of the two teams will win. Example: choose either Team A or Team B and place your bet. There is no draw in limited-overs matches.

Toss

Toss Market

A market on which team will win the toss before the match starts. The toss matters in cricket because the winning team gets to choose whether to bat or field.

Top Batsman

Top Run Scorer

A bet on which batsman will score the most runs in an innings or across the whole match. You pick the name of whoever is in good form.

Over / Under

Total Runs Over/Under

A bet on whether total runs in a specific over or an entire innings will exceed a set number. Example: will runs in the first 10 overs be more than 75?

Top Bowler

Top Wicket Taker

A bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in an innings or across the whole match. You can pick a spinner or a pacer depending on who has the advantage on that pitch.

Multi Bet

Multi Bet (Multiple Markets)

You can combine multiple matches or markets in a single bet. You win only if all selections win — if one loses, the entire bet is lost. High risk, high return market.

Innings Handicap and Point Spread

The stronger team is given a handicap to level things out — for example, if Team A plays with a 20-run handicap, they need to win by more than that margin for the bet to win. This market appears more often in Test and ODI formats because the difference in team strength is much more apparent.

Understanding Odds — Three Methods

Betting odds are written in three common formats: decimal, fractional, and American. ween generally uses decimal odds, but knowing all three makes any market easier to understand.

Format Team A to Win Meaning
Decimal 3.00 Total return ৳3 for every ৳1 bet (profit ৳2)
Fractional 2/1 ৳2 profit for every ৳1 bet, total return ৳3
American +200 ৳200 profit on a ৳100 bet (plus sign means underdog)
Example 1 (same odds in three formats): Team A to win, stake ৳1,000. Decimal 3.00 = Fractional 2/1 = American +200. If the bet wins, return is ৳3,000 (৳2,000 profit + original ৳1,000 stake); if it loses, ৳1,000 is gone.
Example 2 (favourite's odds): Team B to win — Decimal 1.50 = Fractional 1/2 = American -200 (American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100). On a ৳1,000 bet, return is ৳1,500 (৳500 profit).

American minus odds (-200) mean you need to bet ৳200 to make ৳100 profit. Keep in mind — the lower the odds, the more likely the market considers that outcome to be, but the return is also lower.

Multi Bet Calculation

When you combine three selections, the odds are multiplied together. If the decimal odds are 1.40, 1.80, and 1.90, the combined odds will be:

1.40 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 4.79 (approx)
Return on a ৳100 bet is ৳479 — but all three selections must win. If even one loses, the full ৳100 is gone.

Multi bets carry more risk, so it is wise to start with a small stake.

Live Betting — Odds Shift When a Wicket Falls

In-play or live betting is the option to bet in real time while a match is in progress. Here, odds update instantly after every wicket, boundary, or over.

For example, if Team A needs 60 runs in the last 5 overs and two wickets fall, Team B's odds to win will shorten and Team A's odds will lengthen. This change happens immediately.

  • If runs come quickly in the powerplay overs, odds move fast
  • A wicket in the death overs shifts the live over-run market
  • In Tests, odds move in the final hour of the day when spin bowlers gain an advantage
  • After a rain interruption, if the Duckworth-Lewis target changes, new odds are issued

Things to Know Before Betting

Cricket betting at ween is a form of entertainment. Profit is not guaranteed and you should always bet within your means. Keeping a few basic points in mind will make the experience better.

  • Set a budget: Decide how much money you will use in each session before you start, and stick to that limit. Betting is entertainment, not a way to earn income.
  • Focus on one market: For beginners, it is better to start with match winner or total runs markets. Choose a market you are familiar with rather than spreading across many at once.
  • Stay patient in live betting: Odds change quickly — take time to understand the situation before placing a bet rather than acting in a rush.
  • Keep stakes small on multi bets: In a multi bet, losing one selection means losing everything. Always keep the stake amount small for multi bets.
  • Play responsibly: If betting starts to feel like a problem, read the responsible gaming guidelines on ween and use the limit-setting options available.
  • Use bonuses correctly: Understand the wagering conditions of a bonus before using it, so there are no issues when withdrawing.

Alongside cricket betting, ween has many other types of games. If you enjoy card games, you can check out Callbreak Quick — this fast-paced card game is very well known in Bangladesh.

Tips for Understanding Betting

Odds are not just about calculating returns — they also indicate how risky a market is. The higher the decimal odds, the less likely the market considers that outcome to be.

Example: In a limited-overs match, Team A at 1.65 and Team B at 2.30. Bet ৳500 on Team B — if Team B wins, return is ৳1,150 (৳650 profit); if Team A wins, ৳500 is lost.

The teams are always referred to as "Team A" and "Team B" — this is just a hypothetical example.

ween Betting Exchange Back and Lay Markets

Betting Exchange — Back and Lay

Exchange betting has two roles: Back (betting on an outcome to happen) and Lay (betting on an outcome not to happen). This differs from regular bookmaker betting because you are betting against other bettors.

Back Bet Example: Back Team A at decimal 2.50 with ৳500 — if Team A wins, you profit ৳750 before commission; if they don't win, you lose ৳500.
Lay Bet Example: Lay Team A against a backer's stake of ৳500 — your liability is ৳750 (৳500 × 1.50); if Team A doesn't win, you profit ৳500 before commission; if Team A wins, you pay ৳750.

On the exchange, commission is usually charged as a small percentage of the profit. For those who have only done traditional bookmaker betting, exchange betting can be a new experience.

Cricket Betting FAQ

BPL and IPL are T20 format tournaments, so they offer all kinds of markets: match winner, toss, top batsman, top bowler, over-run over/under, and multi bet. In live betting, new markets can open after each over or wicket. It is a good idea to log in to ween before the match starts and check the available markets.

In Tests, a draw is possible, so there are markets for three outcomes — Team A win, Team B win, and draw. Odds change slowly because the match runs over five days. In live betting, odds can shift during the final session of the day due to pitch conditions and fading light. In T20, there are only two outcome markets and odds change much faster.

In an over/under market, a specific number is set — for example, whether total runs in the first innings will be more or less than 150. "Over" means you are betting the total will exceed that number; "under" means it will be less. This is different from a match winner bet because which team wins does not matter here — only the total count.

In live betting, the match situation changes after every ball, wicket, boundary, or no-ball. The bookmaker's system recalculates the probability of each outcome in real time and updates the odds accordingly. For example, if the batting team needs runs in the last over with five wickets in hand, their odds to win will be low — but as soon as a wicket falls, those odds will rise.

In a multi bet all selections work together — if any one of them loses, the entire bet loses. For example, if you bet on three matches and win all three, you receive a return at the combined odds. But if even one loses, your entire stake is gone. Adding more selections to a multi bet increases the potential return but reduces the chance of winning.
